Avoiding Web Hosting Scams
I have been reading more and more about various web hosting scams. The way I see the matter, there are two distinct spheres of these hosting schemes. The first variety targets those individuals or small business owners who already have registered domain names and created websites. The second variety targets individuals who have not registered domain names and created websites. Between these two domain schemes, there are millions of potential targets. Most susceptible to these particular tricks are new and current work-at-home small business owners with sites and those contemplating using Internet real estate as a means of earning additional money. We'll kick off our look at the two different spheres by examining the first group...
Scamming Current Site Owners
Scammers who target the individuals who already have registered domain names have come up with a devious way of tricking people out their money. This scam is really quite scary in its simplicity, and it isn't entirely difficult to understand why it works. All these scammers are really doing is preying on the entirely ordinary event of domain renewal. At the simplest level, all these scammers need to do is send bills to current website owners whose domains are near expiration. They then pass themselves off as either hosting services or other entities responsible for handling the payment and registration of their targets' domain names. In reality, they are completely unaffiliated with the victims' host and website, and the sum of the money collected is pocketed rather than spent re-registering the domain.
Scamming Potential Site Owners
The second area of domain schemes targets individuals who are potential domain registrants, and it is a bit more complicated. For a more detailed look at these

Within this one category, there are a few methods by which individuals could be scammed out of their money. Some of these methods are a little more unsettling than others. But, in the end, all of these versions of domain schemes and web hosting scams are merely ways of tricking people into signing up for website hosting packages and registering website domains. To do this, scammers typically precede by either offering targets a faulty get rich quick(GRQ) scheme in conjunction with the website or by grossly misrepresenting the website service itself. When compared to other scams that target work-from-homers, these domain scams may seem like fairly insignificant threats. Be that as it may, these scams are still frustrating when experienced first hand.
